About Norwich Taiko Centre
Norwich Taiko Centre started as a community carpentry
project in 2005. Local volunteers, including school-
excluded teenagers and refugees, made a set of taiko
and built a practice space in a former factory.
Two guest teachers have visited the centre to assist with
its development; Hiroshi Motofuji, a professional taiko
player, and Toru Hatamoto, an independent taiko-maker.
Norwich Taiko Centre has a strong community focus and
works closely with Anglo-Japanese cultural projects in
the region. Take a look at these recent photos of taiko-
making.
