What is Taiko? Taiko simply means ‘drum’ in Japanese. Nowadays the word also means a contemporary style of drumming based on traditional Japanese music. Playing taiko combines elements of percussion, dance, and martial arts. Norwich Taiko Centre runs open classes for adults and children. Visit the ‘Info’ page for more details. At the centre, we make taiko as well as play them. Visit the ‘About’ page for more details. If you want to know what’s involved in playing taiko, check out the ‘Read about Taiko’ link. Visit the ‘Watch Taiko’ link to see us in action! “It's liberating to have an activity where you can give all the wellie you can without restraint.” May 25th, Kaetsu Centre, Cambridge, 7pm Performance and short workshop July 4th, Olympic Torch night Hay Hill, Norwich, 7.25 - 8pm Diary Dates
